Pillars of the EOS Foundation

The EOS Foundation has been funded!

The EOS block producers approved the setinflation MSIG on August 25th, which funds the previously created eosio.grants account with a total of roughly 3.5M EOS. Additionally, the MSIG adjusted the EOS Inflation rate to direct 2% inflation to the reactivated eosio.saving account, which the EOS Foundation will be able to request additional funds from on a periodic basis.

This symbolizes a major milestone for the whole EOS community as it brings funding and leadership to the ecosystem. Over the years EOS has been lacking 2 crucial components: funding and promotion. Both of these issues will be targeted now.

Internally, the EOS Foundation is well equipped to define and support developments that are vital for the success of EOS; and externally, the Foundation will serve as a point of contact and spokesperson representing the EOS ecosystem to the wider crypto space. Prior to the MSIG passing, Yves La Rose published his Introduction to the Pillars of the EOS Foundation article, which is a detailed overview about the structure on which this new body is built.

The EOS Foundation consists of the core and the board. The core is an agile team executing on the day-to-day management and has the on-chain permissions to the eosio.grants account, whereas the board takes an advisory role and is responsible for reviewing the grant and sponsorship proposals brought forth by the core.

The board is capped at a max of 7 members, each specialists in their field. With one nomination still outstanding, the current members of the board are:

  • Aaron Cox, founder of Greymass
  • Dafeng Guo, founder of EOS Asia and Strikingly
  • Fu Pan, founder and CEO of TokenPocket
  • Peter Watt, Newdex Project Leader
  • Van Kai, iconic founder and leader of the EOS Cannon community
  • Wen Huaqiang, veteran developer and initiator of CryptoKylin

Based on community feedback, the time delay for the eosio.grants MSIG was adjusted from 36 to 72 hours so that BPs and the board have enough time to discuss and execute on a potential veto.

The EOS Foundation also plans to distribute some of its grants and bounties using Pomelo, giving the community a say in how those funds are directed. The future of EOS looks brighter than ever! Go EOS!

EOS Wallet Progress: Anchor, Wombat, Metamask

The EOS Ecosystem is primed to attract a whole new wave of users, so we’re highlighting some of the most used EOS wallets, which have all made significant progress recently.

Anchor

Greymass released a progress report recently, along with details of work in progress on a document that would express their vision for EOS or serve as a roadmap for the EOS ecosystem. They also shared recent developments on the Anchor Wallet.

The month of August features upgrades in account creation, SDKs, and infrastructure/APIs.

The Greymass team has made upgrades in the Anchor wallet across all platforms including Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux, and Web. Anchor for Android has seen many bug fixes and improvements but it’s still in early access.

Greymass is one of the outstanding teams in the EOS network. We’re looking forward to seeing more of these updates and all their plans realized for EOS.

Wombat

Wombat has integrated Unstoppable Domains into their services. This allows users to get a simple domain name that they can link to a blockchain wallet and use it for making transactions, access Web3 applications, or use it as a decentralized website.

To get a cool domain name, all you need to do is to visit the Unstoppable Domain website and purchase a name. Then you can tether that name to a blockchain wallet on EOS, Telos, or Ethereum. Visit the Wombat Blog to learn how to tie your Unstoppable domain to a Blockchain wallet.

EOS Mainnet is now available on Metamask.

EOS Network is now available on Metamask, which is one of the most popular browser extensions and crypto wallets. We’ve anticipated this update from the EOS Argentina team since March when they announced its deployment on the Kylin testnet.

This update is good for the EOS mainnet as it gives crypto enthusiasts who are already familiar with Metamask one more way to interact with EOS.

Setting up the EOS Network on Metamask takes just a few clicks, visit the announcement post on the EOS Community Forum to learn how to connect!

WAX Gets Listed on Binance

The WAX Community also had a reason to celebrate last week, as the WAXP token was listed on the Binance exchange.

With Binance being the largest crypto exchange in existence, the listing made it a lot easier for NFT fans from around the world to get their hands on WAXP tokens and start collecting WAX based NFTs. Digging a little bit deeper with the WAXDetective tool, we can see lots of activity on Binance’s WAX accounts already.

Parallel to the listing, the WAX Homepage got a shiny new look as well. The team added plenty of useful information especially for all the new members entering the WAX Ecosystem. And there’s a lot that WAX has going for it. Everything from NFTs to offset carbon emissions to complex cross chain DeFi mechanisms.

And just last week with Deadmau5 and Megadeath, we had 2 big names from the music business releasing their NFTs on WAX. We also love to see that more and more established artists are choosing WAX for releasing their digital works. Some recent examples include:

John Van Hamersveld, who has previously designed Album Covers for the likes of Jimmy Hendrix, The Beatles, Blondie and the Rolling Stones.

And Joe Egan, an artist participating in an ongoing NFT auction at Christies, who chose WAX to host his works.

EOS Nation’s WAX August Update

Introducing EOS Nation’s  WAX Report, a new monthly publication in which we document our contributions to the WAX ecosystem.

From the history infrastructure to community engagement, in August, we successfully contributed to the advancement of WAX in many fronts.

We’ve added more storage capacity to our servers to keep up with the ever growing demands on the ecosystem. We’ve also added a paid dfuse service in addition to our free streaming data and history packages to provide premium services to businesses and enterprises.

We joined hands with .gems to facilitate the deployment of a new NFT series – The Ocean Defenders, and also supported the Virtual Reality Graffiti Battles (VRGB) through which we attracted visitors to WAX. Our Cryptovoxels metaverse gallery features many WAX NFTs and attracts a steady stream of NFT enthusiasts to the parcel every week.

And we continue to feed our esteemed audience through text, audio and video content through our weekly EOS Hot Sauce Publications.

WAX NFTs: Tools for the Community

There’s a lot of entrepreneurial spirit coming from WAX community members, releasing not just original NFT collections but also great tools that make WAX NFTs a lot more fun. This week we’re highlighting some of our favourites.

$Nefty and Neftyblocks Whitepaper

NeftyBlocks has been connecting and supporting digital artists and collectors in the WAX ecosystem for a while now, and with the release of their whitepaper, NeftyBlocks revealed how they plan to take it a step further and how they plan to cater to future growth.

The $NEFTY token is one way that they plan to incentivize the participation of all the players in the Nefty platform. 15.56% of the total supply of the NEFTY token is earmarked for distribution to the community and the sales go live on August 31st. After the sale, NEFTY can be mined whenever people buy and sell NFTs on NeftyBlocks. 54.44% of the total supply is earmarked for the liquidity mining pool. A portion of the total supply is also earmarked for airdrops that will benefit  AlpacaWorlds coin holders, Betsy NFT holders, and buyers and sellers who used Nefty Blocks before June 29, 2021.

Check out the NeftyBlocks white paper for even more insights on the vision and roadmap for this NFT community.

Niftycap

Niftycap is a brand new ranking website where users can quickly get an overview of the most prominent WAX collections and how their volume develops over time.

NFT Insider

Every day on WAX, lots of brilliant artists and NFTs enthusiasts are creating new art. There’s a ton of trading activity, and sometimes it gets difficult to keep track of all the awesome activities. This is why NFT Insider exists. With NFT Insider you can easily keep track and stay updated on everything happening on WAX.

Look out for their weekly reports and their periodic interviews with top players in the NFT space.

XUSO

Sven Pohl, creator of the XUSO NFT project has created a tool on WAX that enables NFT creators to send NFT airdrops with the option to take them back if the receiver fails to claim them within a specified timeframe.

Watch the YouTube tutorial to learn how to transfer NFTs to a user using the Claimdrops tool. It might be a handy tool for NFT creators who wish to engage their fans with airdrops. It can also be used to send NFTs of other creators.

The Claimdrop tool is still under testing. The smart contract is open source and available on GitHub.

EOS NFTs: Golden Pomelos, .gems Evangelists & Volume Surge

Launching the Pomelo NFT series has been a lot of fun. We’ve introduced a whole set of new tools and the community participated in our activities with great enthusiasm. In the coming weeks, all the Juicy Pomelos that were harvested can be blended into the Golden Pomelo.

We’ve seen a significant increase in volume on the EOS NFT market and we’re very happy about this positive response.

Loyal followers of .gems already know, we always reward participation in our events with a little Thank You: the .gems Evangelist NFTs.

Over the course of the promotion we’ve taken a couple of snapshots to document participating accounts, and the Evangelist NFTs for Pomelo, GBK and the Dream BIG collections will be distributed in the coming days.

So watch out for these, as money can’t buy Evangelist NFTs… at least not on the primary market.

In other news, it seems that the heightened activity has also attracted a whale splashing around and buying up some of the most prominent EOS NFT collections, such as Crypto Finney, Byron’s Zombie Art, GBK Chestahedrons and DreamBIG.

What a nice surprise!

Algo Trader Integrates EOS

On August 19, AlgoTrader, a global leader in institutional trading and execution infrastructure for digital assets and a portfolio company of FinLab EOS VC, announced the release of the EOSIO Market Da

ta Oracle.

With this Oracle on the EOS mainnet, EOS developers can get access to live price feeds and other real-time market information. It has a cool frontend that provides live visualization of market data.

Heidi Taillefert presents: Vintage Valentines

The Vintage Valentine series was conceived to mimic turn of the century valentine’s day cards, reflecting an era when society pretended to hide the more salacious habits of so many people during that time. On top of the physical pieces, this collection also features digital copies, published as Vintage Valentine Card NFTs on the carbon-neutral WAX blockchain.
