BSN, dfuse and EOS Nation Trilateral Partnership

This article was originally posted on Voice and is being republished in the EOS Hot Sauce.

Blockchain-based Service Network (BSN), dfuse, and EOS Nation announced a trilateral partnership this week to make the massively scalable dfuse data access APIs available to BSN International’s customers deploying EOSIO and Ethereum blockchains. We believe this partnership will have a significant and sustainable positive impact on the growth and strength of the EOS Mainnet for the long-term.

EOS Nation wanted to ensure the inevitable traffic growth from the BSN goes to the EOS Mainnet – not another EOSIO iteration. This is why the end-to-end integration was so important. The incentives are aligned for BSN to point to the Mainnet, instead of elsewhere. EOS Nation ensures this. – Yves La Rose, CEO of EOS Nation

Essentially BSN is positioning itself to be the main funnel for any and all developers in China to come and develop on a blockchain. BSN’s founding members include:

  • China Mobile – the largest mobile telecommunications corporation by market capitalization, and also the world’s largest mobile network operator by total number of subscribers.
  • China Union Pay – the largest card payment organization (debit and credit cards combined) in the world offering mobile and online payments based on total value of payment transactions, ahead of Visa and Mastercard).

BSN International’s customers can now publish their applications on the EOS mainnet with direct access to dfuse APIs. BSN’s customers can access the free dfuse Community Edition, hosted by EOS Nation, a leading EOS block producer, in support of the global community. Customers with requirements that exceed the Community Edition’s limits can access with higher level guarantees and full technical support, directly from dfuse. –dfuse

BSN makes it easy for developers to pick what best suits their needs and we enhance that offering by ensuring developers can use the immensely powerful dfuse services at no cost. dfuse is a massively scalable open-source platform for searching and processing blockchain data, empowering developers with capabilities to build modern blockchain applications with fast, fluid interfaces that deliver exceptional user experiences. There is nothing else quite like it.

The BSN is a one-stop shop for DApp developers to deploy and manage any permissioned or permissionless blockchain applications. We have built entire operating environments and shared nodes on BSN’s public city nodes (PCN) around the world. Developers only need to choose which PCN to connect and upload smart contracts. We will do everything else for you! – Blockchain-based Service Network

The Official Community Edition is important as it completes the offering and ensures access to the tools the developers need depending on where they find themselves in their current business development process. dfuse and EOS Nation announced the launch of the Official dfuse Community Edition in June 2020, and it’s been running in beta for a few months.

Having a free edition of dfuse offered on the EOS Mainnet opens the doors for those applications to follow suit directly in the EOS Mainnet instead of elsewhere, ensuring the value remains, and grows, on the EOS Mainnet.

For more information on this partnership, check out the latest edition of Everything EOS, where EOS Nation CEO, Yves La Rose, discussed the significance of it with Zack and Chaney.

Also be sure to follow dfuse on Twitter to stay up to date on their latest developments, such as the newly announced Account History feature that is sure to make many developers happy.

Everipedia's OraQles and the US Elections

The Associated Press partnered with Everipedia to bring the 2020 US Presidential Election results to the blockchain.

The Associated Press has been reporting US elections for the past 150 years and are considered the gold standard in the industry. This partnership with  Everipedia brings that gold standard to the next level.

While the AP is publishing on both Ethereum and EOS blockchains, Everipedia highlights that EOS’ technology is optimal for this particular use case:

Bringing information on chain that is origin-sourced and cryptographically signed requires a high rate of refresh; it involves many state changes that don’t have a lot of value changes. I think that capability is fantastic on EOSIO, and it’s been a treat to actually do that. –Sam Kazemian, Co-Founder of Everipedia, #BuiltOnEOSIO

Due to the difficulty of developing in Solidity, the team leverages Chainlink to deploy the AP dataset on Ethereum. On EOS, Everipedia built its own tooling and is using their own infrastructure, which allows these oracles to be very responsive by deploying the data set in real-time.

Having this dataset on chain allows all sorts of smart contract applications to tap into this origin-sourced information for use cases such as prediction markets or for updating electoral maps in real-time based on cryptographically proven information.

Users who want to see the latest results for themselves on chain can do so by looking up the associapress EOS account or visiting the AP Election Mission Control on Everipedia, while developers who want to extract this on chain data to a MySQL-compatible database client can do so using a tool published by EOS Amsterdam.

AP is the first organization to use the Everipedia OraQle to verify and sign their data on the blockchain. Our goal is to work with many trusted institutions and have them use Everipedia OraQle to verify their data and publish it on the blockchain. – Sam Kazemian, Co-Founder of Everipedia, #BuiltOnEOSIO

Fake news is a modern plague and the need to verify the legitimacy of information has never been higher. Blockchain can help fight fake news and it’s great to see industry leaders like the Associated Press leveraging the power of the EOS blockchain to increase the integrity of their data. While many of us would like to see the actual voting take place on the blockchain, this is a great first step towards that eventual goal.

Uplift.Art's "I'm Not The Bubble" NFT DROP

One of our favorite blockchain artists, mBlu Crypto, is back at it again! This time mBlu and Uplift.Art teamed up with rockstar and philanthropist Corey Cotrell to release the I’m Not the Bubble music video NFT series.

While the amazing art pieces are obviously the centerpiece of this collection, there are a lot of other exciting aspects including a new crate opening technology and a Sprint for Mints! This new crate opening method will allow everyone an equal chance at low mints, regardless of when you purchased a crate or when you opened it! Just like real-world packs of collectibles, a #1 mint could be found in the last crate that is bought or opened!

Don’t worry, there’s also something for the most hardcore NFT collectors out there that enjoy the thrill of furiously clicking buttons in order to open crates as soon as possible in the hope of finding highly valuable collectibles. The Sprint for Mints will allow collectors to upgrade their collectibles by burning 10 of the same rarity in order to get 1 random collectible from the rarity level above it, while also having a chance of receiving a collectible from the Mythic Collection.

Another way to play this new drop model is to burn all 25 of any rarity level Common through Legendary to receive the Collectors Edition from that rarity level. These are the most sought after NFTs of the collection because they are the full audio and video version of the music video, I’m Not the Bubble.

To promote the event even further, and to spread the joy of collecting beautiful NFT art pieces, Uplift.Art is giving away Community Crates leading up to the launch of the event. Make sure to follow them on Twitter and to join their Telegram channels to learn more about the project and for your chance at picking up a free Community Crate!

BONUS: Uplift.Art also gave us some Community Crates to distribute to our community! If you previously signed up for our Race for Rares NFT promotion, you’ll have a chance to get a free Community Crate! Check your accounts, about 25% of Race for Rares signups will be lucky enough to receive a crate!

And of course, 50% of all profits from this Uplift.Art release will go to support the Haitian Roots education and food program.

All in all, this promises to be an amazing NFT release and we’re excited to take part in it! We’ll see all of you on the WAX blockchain for the sale and for the Sprint for Mints!

WAX Cloud Wallet 2.0, Atari and Game Items

Let’s kick off this week’s WAX News with a shout-out to the WAX team for the launch of the WAX Cloud Wallet 2.0. It’s been out a little bit over a week now and comes with lots of nice features including:

  • Better filtering system for your NFT Inventory
  • More info and details on every single NFT
  • WAX News section
  • Integrated proxy voting and vote rewards claiming
  • WAX dApp Library

Managing your NFTs directly from the wallet became a lot more fun with this update and the new look of the interface surely does its part to create a pleasant experience.

Many had the perfect opportunity to give the new wallet a test drive while participating in one of the most anticipated sales of Q4 2020.

Atari, being a prominent member of the WAX Advisory Council, released a set of digital Atari Collectible Boxes, reminiscent of the early days of digital gaming. Back then, the company was a pioneer in the field and we think it’s a nice touch of them to enter into the future of gaming with this retro-style collectible series.

But this space is moving really fast and the evolution of NFTs is clearly going in the direction of infusing more utility into the product.

As NFT Live Co-host and NFT Writer Ronin the Collector mentioned in a Tweet, a beautiful artwork is not all that makes an NFT attractive for collectors. Do you agree? What do you value in the NFTs you decide to own?

The utility of digital collectibles is where NFTs and blockchain gaming become the perfect combination to evolve a whole industry. In the following, we want to highlight a few WAX-based projects that serve as good examples of this development.

Let’s start with Tribal Books, a card-based free-to-play game where each NFT item plays a role in the gameplay. For example, the Magical Forces NFTs are chosen on a turn-by-turn basis by the player, while the Books NFTs collect all the forces and will develop unique features over time, depending on the experience and history of that player. Going beyond traditional card-based games, Tribal Books also introduces a map toplay out your adventure

It’s clear that the team has put a lot of thought into this release and aims to make sure that Tribal Books stays entertaining. The team recently did a deep dive interview that shares more about their approach and various game mechanics.

Their initial sale is scheduled for November 11th.Get in the mood with the intro trailer about the legend of the Lost City, the origin of Tribal Books.

The NFTs of Dark Country are also far more than just a collectible. Already in circulation, these represent a variety of game characters. Besides the utility within the game itself, the team is also hosting regular tournaments, such as the most recent Heroes Fight Club.

So you can add “winning juicy tournament prizes” to the list of NFT utilities.

The Alien Worlds NFTs represent different components that all together form an outer space metaverse. Along with it comes a cross-chain economy and potentially the opportunity to earn passive income. For this to be possible, NFT staking will be an essential function, which was recently demonstrated by the team in their staking interface preview.

It’s clear that more utility will help maintain or increase the value of NFTs, so the question about how and where the NFTs are stored is getting more and more important. In this context, we want to point you to an interesting conversation touching upon the various layers of decentralized storage, which was well documented on the WAX School YouTube Channel.

In other WAX NFT news, the AtomicAssets team had a reason to celebrate their huge success, as they just reached an impressive milestone with over 1 Million NFTs created on WAX, just 4 months after the initial launch. Congratulations to the whole team -amazingly well done!

The Simple Market, home of the Simple Assets NFT standard, also made some good progress. We’re happy to report that the option to create auctions is now live, allowing 2 different types:

  • English Auctions:  Bid up the price in a set amount of time.
  • Dutch Auctions: Price drops until someone buys.

As always, the WAX section of the EOS Hot Sauce makes up a significant portion of our weekly EOSIO News. What a vivid, fun, and productive community! Great job to everyone involved!

Light DSPs on the DAPP Network

Tal Muskal, CTO at LiquidApps, joined Zack Gall for the most recent episode of DAPP Talk. And we know that anytime Tal himself comes on the show, there might be some extra spicy sauce involved. Well, we weren’t disappointed!

Introducing the opportunity to run Light DSPs opens up a new plethora of possibilities for the DAPP network and pushes the spectrum of customizable options towards maximal decentralization. The Light DSP protocol lowers the bar significantly so that light DSP services could even be offered through a browser tab. On top of that, this offering is 100% chain agnostic.

As the infrastructure requirements for Light DSP nodes is pretty low, it’s possible for them to offer lower prices for their service packages, which ultimately benefits the developer community.

The opportunities are endless and we recommend watching the full video interview to dive deeper and witness the excitement that Zack and Tal have for this new product.

Great job, LiquidApps!

Ultra's UOS Token Update

The Ultra team shared an updated overview of the UOS token model and all the various aspects of how the UOS Token will be driving the Ultra ecosystem. While one of the most obvious use cases for a token would be buying and selling Ultra’s games, services, and items, Ultra’s vision for UOS goes way further.

Lowering the hurdles for new users, fiat payments will be possible through a fully integrated fiat-to-UOS conversion process where fiat will be merely a gateway. From here UOS is the sole medium of exchange between gamers, developers, streamers and brands, allowing this ecosystem to thrive.

We recommend reading the full article to anyone interested in Ultra, but we put together a few highlights for you as a teaser:

  • UOS can be used for plenty of non-purchase transactions, such as betting applications, tournaments, tipping, and more
  • Rewards can be earned through staking UOS for resources or other forms of user engagement
  • Through a yet undisclosed partnership (!) players can mine UOS by providing computing power
  • The UOS token will also play a significant role in the creation of Ultra native NFTs. Each NFT will have a certain amount of UOS “fused” into the NFT and the NFT owner can “break” an NFT to access the contained UOS tokens at any time.

Additionally, the team explores cross-chain functionalities and therefore decided not to force a full migration of the ERC20 UOS token to the Ultra Main Net. These cross-chain plans tie in nicely with the most recent news we got from the Ultra team, as they just announced a partnership with The Sandbox, a very popular blockchain-based metaverse.

“This partnership crystalizes the first step of Ultra into the metaverse by building bridges between our community and The Sandbox community.

Ultra’s experience is designed for such type of collaboration and starting with a product like The Sandbox offers us the opportunity to push blockchain technology further into exciting uncharted territories.”

Nicolas Gilet Co-CEO of Ultra

Once again we see EOSIO smart contracts providing the flexibility that developers need to fulfill their vision. We’re very excited about the launch of Ultra, as the team has put a lot of work and thought into this project. The future of gaming is near.

Heidi Taillefert presents: Vintage Valentines

The Vintage Valentine series was conceived to mimic turn of the century valentine’s day cards, reflecting an era when society pretended to hide the more salacious habits of so many people during that time. On top of the physical pieces, this collection also features digital copies, published as Vintage Valentine Card NFTs on the carbon-neutral WAX blockchain.
