LACChain Testnet Launch & EOSIO Dashboard

LACChain is built on EOSIO and now features a live testnet as well as an official website where potential users and application developers can find a block explorer, a network dashboard, and technical documentation. LACChain EOSIO is the result of a collaboration between EOS Costa Rica, EOS Argentina, EOS Venezuela, Block.one, and the IDB Lab (Innovation Laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank Group).

As one of the major development finance players in the region, the involvement of the Inter-American Development Bank Group is key to establishing regulatory-compliant public permissioned blockchain-powered infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean. LACChain membership currently spans 15 countries in Latin America and features 49 partners collaborating towards a platform agnostic framework for a permissioned, public, blockchain-based infrastructure.

EOS Costa Rica has so far developed 3 applications that utilize the LACChain:  Lifebank, an open-source app to promote blood donations; InmuTrust, a blockchain-based software to improve transparency and traceability of vaccines; and SMARTGATE, a platform for in-out gate activity for the container industry. Now that the public test network is live, LACChain is now ready to welcome other developers globally who would like to deploy to this network.

The slick-looking EOSIO dashboard displays a variety of data, metrics and statistics for more than just the LACChain Pro Testnet and also includes EOS, WAX, Proton, Telos and the Jungle testnet. We especially like the visual representation of network rewards that can be seen on the Rewards Distribution tab. Other information included in the EOSIO Dashboard includes a list of block producers, their active nodes, their social networks, and a map that allows users to visualize the location of various network nodes. Check it out and reach out to EOS Costa Rica for more information about LACChain or their EOSIO Dashboard!

Planting your Pomelo Tree NFT

It’s time to plant your Pomelo Trees!

Over the past 4 weeks, supporters of the Pomelo platform have been donating EOS towards the matching pool by purchasing our 4 Pomelo NFT drops. Supporters who have collected the Pomelo Seeds, Soil, Liquidity, and Sun can now combine them to produce your very own Pomelo Tree!

You can do that the old fashioned way by sending the correct recipe ingredients and the appropriate memo (“pomelo”) to our blend.gems smart contract, or try our new blending page and claim your Pomelo Tree with the click of a button!

But that’s not all! Starting on Saturday the 14th of August at 16:00 UTC, the Pomelo Tree NFTs will start producing Pomelo Fruit NFTs. We’ve built a staking system that allows users to retain complete ownership and control of their assets while still earning the staking rewards. But you’ll need to prove you’re a human to claim them! We’ll have more to share about Pomelo’s sybil resistant account features next week!

In the meantime, all you have to do is hold one or more Pomelo Trees in your account to start accumulating that sweet Pomelo yield! The more trees you hold, the bigger your share of the Pomelo yield! Once you’ve accumulated 10 Pomelos, you’ll be able to blend them into a Golden Pomelo that will appear as a badge on your Pomelo profile. While this badge will not add additional voting weight to your account, it will showcase your early involvement in the platform and serve as recognition of your support for the first Pomelo matching round.

Buy Pomelo Tree ingredients on AtomicHub if you still need them.

Ultra Wallet & UOS Token Swap

Following the recent launch of the Ultra Mainnet, the team has also released the Ultra block explorer along with the Ultra Wallet, which is now accessible to all users. After downloading the Ultra wallet-only client, users will be able to create their Ultra account and secure a unique username. While the wallet functionality is still limited, users are able to deposit their UOS tokens or swap already existing UOS ERC-20 tokens to the native UOS tokens. You can also start inviting your friends to join in via your referral link.

With the Ultra Client, you’ll eventually be able to discover a vast array of AAA, AA, and indie games; as well as trade items and NFTs on the versatile marketplace.

The token swap from UOS ERC-20 tokens to native UOS tokens is facilitated by P.network’s vault contract on Ethereum, with a pUOS contract and the ultra.swap contract on Ultra completing the bridge between the two networks. The bi-directional nature of the swap enables you to hold native UOS tokens, while still partaking in liquidity and staking programs on Ethereum if you so choose. Swapping from Ultra back to Ethereum would incur a 0.25% swap fee as compensation to P.network’s validators on Ethereum.  For more information about the swap you can consult the Guide to Ultra’s Token Swap. And for more general information about Ultra, you can now read the lengthy interview with the Ultra Co-founders conducted by the French crypto publication “Journal du Coin” that has now been translated into English.

DAO Bull

Dao Bull, an EOSIO-based platform that allows anyone to create their own Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) in minutes, emerged as the winner of this year’s EOSIO Beyond Blockchain Hackathon, and we had the chance to learn more about them in the latest instalment of Block.one’s #BuiltOnEOSIO series

A Decentralized Autonomous Organization is an organization simultaneously governed by numerous elected participants, rather than one central figure or body. This type of system could solve the ever-growing need for more transparency in the handling of shared resources.

This DAO system may sound wonderful, but it’s very complicated to create and manage. Dao Bull’s innovation exists to simplify the creation and management of DAOs and it was created using the scalability and efficiency of EOSIO, combined with the social and community management tools of Google Cloud.

One of the major problems organizations with shared resources would face is how to effectively make satisfactory decisions for the community as it gets bigger. Dao Bull seeks to solve this problem via reputation based voting, a system where each participant is awarded a reputation within the community according to his or her contributions. The Dao Bull platform thus features the option of a governance token for the DAO operators, which can serve as some sort of measure for an individual’s reputation and earned based on community contributions. This would ensure that when the time comes to make a major decision in a community, a member with a higher reputation or a member who has made more contributions would have more influence or voting power.

Dao Bull also noted intentions to expand the array of features available in future versions of the product, which includes support for payroll, fundraising permissions, an application center for third-party developers, and more.

VR Graffiti Battles Recap & DAO Structure

Last week’s VR Graffiti Battles Season 1 playoffs and finals brought together a diverse crowd of Street Culture aficionados for a fun weekend of activities in the metaverse. In fact, our parcel was seen by 428 visitors, many of whom had never joined a metaverse event before. During the finals, VRGB also released our Season 00 NFT pack (fully pre-minted) that contained all of the artworks produced by the previous season’s participants.

We want to give a huge shout-out to our partners at sk8coin.io and Cipher.media for their support and for helping make this event one to remember.

While we’re preparing for the next VRGB event, we want to take a look at some of the more hidden aspects of the VRGB project. Besides producing great artworks, the VR Graffiti Battles introduce innovative ways to grow and manage a community.

The structure of the VR Graffiti Battles runs on 2 interconnected levels: quarterly tournaments called VRGB Seasons and an all-time leaderboard called the VRGB League. Each VRGB Season is a closed cycle of value creation and is managed by its own mini-DAO.

Throughout each season participating artists generate value, while voters via NFT based voting curate the artworks and decide which artist makes it the furthest in the tournament, and therefore how many artworks of an artist are included in that Season’s VRGB NFT Pack. These voting results have a direct impact on the number of profit shares an artist receives from the sale, as each artist receives funds corresponding to the number of artworks he/she has contributed.

As for active voters, they’ll receive voter rewards in the form of a non-transferable NFT. Over time, the number of voter rewards held in an account will increase the voting power for the account owners and will let them climb up in the ranks of the VRGB Community.

Effectively, members with the most voter rewards in their account earn the trust to play a key role in the VRGB League, which is aiming to become a pioneer in the cross junction of e-sports and creativity. This DAO structure is built entirely on the WAX mainnet, made possible through the highly efficient EOSIO Blockchain Technology.

We’re excited to develop this creative consensus model further with a growing number of participants. If you have questions or suggestions, please reach out to us or let us know in the comments!

NFTRIPPY

NFTrippy is a new release coming to WAX, centered around education and enlightenment on several types of mushrooms. It belongs to the bigger Non-Fungible Collection, with the same focus on mushrooms and psychedelics. NFTrippy collectors seek to help Mushy the Mushroom become enlightened about his kind through a set of NFT cards that combines knowledge on mushrooms ranging from science to folklore. The collection comprises 7 different mushroom genus, some chemical compounds in them that grant the mushrooms psychoactive properties, and unique Elder cards that can only be unlocked by taking the right mushroom doses.

There are three types of packs obtainable: Single, Standard, and Cluster. The collection also comes in different rarities or doses such as Baseline, Lift-Off, and Heroic. The launch is scheduled for August and the sale will not be timed. Once the release is live, the sale goes on until all packs are sold out.

vIRL NFTs

Yet another unique NFT project is launching on WAX, called vIRL NFTs. vIRL NFTs are digital cards that serve as digital representations or substitutes for physical possessions. Basically, you don’t need to have your merchandise delivered to you if you don’t want it,  which is especially handy if you plan to re-sell it.

Instead you get a unique NFT that represents your verified ownership. The item itself remains where it is, and it can be traded multiple times without being moved at all. This innovation creates a whole new system called vCommerce, saving a lot in delivery fees while reducing carbon footprints. It also eliminates the risks related to deliveries and gives buyers the ability to easily view the item’s ownership history

What if you do want your items physically? No problem. You can redeem your NFT for the physical item with the tap of a button and enjoy it like you normally would. Redeemed cards get tagged, and may or may not be eligible for subsequent trading.

Learn more in the vIRL NFTs explainer video.

WAX Arena

WAX Arena is the latest hotshot in the WAX ecosystem at the moment. How exactly does it work? Each player has a character linked to a WAX wallet, with this character functioning as your commander in fights in the arena. There are approved collections for the game, and the cards from the approved collection players hold in their wallets earn them Power Points. The rarer the cards in your inventory, the more the Power Points they earn you. The Power Points can be used to customize your character, giving it stronger attributes and increasing your chances of winning the arena’s rewards. Arena Entry Keys are required to participate and are available on AtomicHub for between 5 and 10 WAX. All of the WAX earned from key drops will be added to the prize pool to be competed for. All you need to do is be the first to defeat the champion of the arena and you win!

What makes this game stand out is its peculiar feature involving players staking their NFTs, but without having those tokens leave their wallets. Once users have their NFTs in their wallets, they log in to the arena and start earning power points. Check out the recent video by Anyobservation to learn more about WAX Arena
