Yves La Rose

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Responsibilities include: governance, strategy, communications
Location: Ottawa, Canada

Yves began his journey into computers at a very young age, building his first computer at 6 years old and programming his first game at the age of 7. Yves has always had a deep ideological relationship with computers and their role in decentralization. Yves began his university studies in software engineering, but quickly realized the human aspect was where his heart resided. After completing studies in psychology and pure sciences, Yves bridged the gap by focusing on perceptual and computational neuropsychology.

After starting to mine Bitcoin in 2010, Yves eventually realized that Proof of Work would not be able to provide him with the decentralization dream he was so fond of. Yves used his bitcoins to buy various computer parts and forgot about Bitcoin for a few years until he co-founded a crypto education group in 2016. In his professional life, Yves worked for the Canadian Federal Government as an economist and a policy advisor, and then worked in communications for an elected National political representative in Canada. Yves left National politics to pursue his passion of decentralization, cryptoassets and EOS – founding EOS Nation in February 2018. Yves is fluent in Japanese, having spent the early part of his formative adult years living in Japan.

Daniel Keyes

Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Responsibilities include: product management, operations, community
Location: Toronto, Canada

Prior to founding the first EOS community in Toronto and co-founding EOS Nation, Daniel spent a decade in the financial technology industry working several diverse roles. His extensive experience in customer service, sales, sales coaching, agent training, digital marketing, digital process management (lean green belt), and product management (certified scrum master, certified product owner) eventually lead him to consulting for a blockchain dev shop.

Daniel earned a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University in 2009 and worked as a chase producer intern at Global TV.

Daniel lives by the principles of Truth, Love, and Freedom.

Denis Carriere

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Full-time responsibilities include: block producer infrastructure, enterprise architect
Location: Ottawa, Canada

As a full-stack web & GIS developer and a strong advocate for open source software & open data, Denis is our Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for our node infrastructure.

Before focusing all his efforts on EOS and EOS Nation, Denis was one of the core developers for TurfJS (Advanced geospatial analysis for browsers and Node.js) and a developer for SharedStreets.io (A shared language for the world’s streets). Denis is living and breathing open source with over 4,800+ GitHub commits this year alone. He is also the event organizer for OpenStreetMap and travels internationally/locally attending technology conferences.

Denis also served with the Canadian Armed Forces as a Geospatial Engineer and deployed overseas for two operational missions, one of which was providing humanitarian relief efforts during the 2015 Nepal earthquake.

Matthew Darwin

Chief Infrastructure Officer (CIO)
Responsibilities include: maintaining, testing and optimizing node infrastructure
Location: Ottawa, Canada

For more than 20 years Matthew Darwin has worked in both large and small technology companies (Loran International Technologies, Peregrine Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Hewlett Packard Enterprise).  His roles varied from Linux system administrator, dev-ops engineer, full-stack software development engineer, project manager and team manager up to the level of R&D Director. He has managed projects, both small and large teams (of up to 100 software engineers) including multi-geography teams located in Asia, Europe and North America.

Prior to joining EOS Nation, the projects Matthew worked on focused primarily on IT Service Management, IT Asset Management and Network Discovery/Management. He introduced Agile software development methodologies to teams needing improved process. Matthew spent most of his time on customer-focused engineering: understanding customers’ requirements and then delivering improvements and features to existing products. His passion is business process excellence: removing work by automating manual tasks and modernizing delivery process.

In his free time, he volunteers on various Canadian civic technology projects.

In early 2017, after a deep dive into cryptoassets, Stéphane became an evangelist for Bitcoin, blockchain and decentralization. Through his constant efforts, he was able to grab people’s attention and educate them through casual conversations about these new concepts. Driven by his beliefs in the potential of decentralization, Stéphane was able to get many people interested in this new emerging asset class.  Some of these people, like Denis Carrière and Yves La Rose, eventually left their old industries to join the blockchain revolution.  Stéphane is honored to be able to continue his blockchain education efforts by working with a worldwide team of passionate EOSIO advocates through the EOS Nation Ambassador program.

Vincent Grenier, P.Eng

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Responsibilities include: Legal, Financial, French Community Engagement

David Bigley

Philadelphia, PA, USA
Joined November 2018

Being a lover of freedom and entrepreneurship, David Bigley started a landscaping business in 2013 after earning his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Business Studies. Intrigued with Bitcoin and the implications of a decentralized, trustless monetary system, he began pursuing a deeper understanding of the blockchain space beginning in the summer of ’17. A new passion had been ignited.  The implications of Moore’s Law revealed to him the importance and urgency of steering technology in a positive direction to empower people and enrich the human experience.

Before long, David came across an interview with the EOSIO creator, Dan Larimer. Dan’s philosophy of voluntary association and life mission “to find free market solutions to secure life, liberty, and property for all” greatly resonated with him. Not only was Dan’s philosophy aligned with his own, but Dan’s expertise and success in building other projects like Bitshares & Steemit was incredibly promising. The EOSIO implementation of solutions to the problems in scalability, governance, adaptability, and the incentive structures present on the EOSIO platform made it apparent that EOSIO was in a unique position to be the leading infrastructure for innovation of decentralized applications. David is happy to be working with EOS Nation to grow the EOS community in the Philadelphia region.  David’s purpose backed with passion is to educate others on all things EOSIO!

Milot S. Mehmeti

Pristina, Kosovo
Joined May 2018

Eleutheromaniac. A cryptoasset investor and trader by day, Milot Mehmeti is also the proud owner of Kosovo’s first business to accept cryptoassets as payment and is the founder of @wearesatoshi.io. Hearing about blockchain technology in late 2015, he was fascinated by its potential impact it could have on the world.  Jumping in with both feet, he started mining, trading and learning as much as possible.  Proof of Work never seemed like the best consensus algorithm and he was weary of the high levels of energy consumption needed simply to secure and validate.  Seeing the high levels of pollution in his country from the many coal-fired power stations kept reminding him of the unsustainability of proof of work, eventually leading him to divest and sell his mining equipment.

Milot then focused his attention on green projects and I saw EOSIO as a third generation blockchain technology that was best suited for the decentralized solution he was looking for.  Milot dedicates his life to help spread economic freedom, especially in his country of Kosovo where it is desperately needed.  He has built a large community of Albanian crypto enthusiasts and he a leading crypto influencer in his country.  Although Kosovo is the only European country without freedom of movement, the hope is that through cryptoassets and EOS the population is able to become global, at least with our devices and imagination. We imagine being equal and EOS decentralized governance will help that come true.

Heinz Martin Breuer

Regional Director of Asia
Location: Chengdu, China

After creating a DIY magazine about environmental protection, Heinz Martin became part of the German Green Party by being a founding member of the local green party for minors. However, it soon became apparent that existing political structures we’re too stiff and limited for him so he merged his political activism with art and music, leading him to educational efforts such as handing out educational material at music festivals, creating political graffiti, being the front man of a music band, organizing protest rallies on pressing issues and doing art installations at the 27th G8 summit held in Genoa, Italy.

Inspired by Joseph Beuys’ concept of the Social Sculpture, Martin studied art at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, where he graduated in 2008 with a master’s degree in Oil Painting.

Taking part in the academy’s philosophy programs, he wrote essays about futurism, robotics and gene manipulation but also about the historical differences between the western and eastern art philosophies.  Moving to China after these studies and integrating himself as much as possible, Martin started organizing events and culture exchange programs all over China. This led him to start an artist agency, an event management company and a screen print studio.

While living behind the Great Chinese Firewall and therefore learning about VPNs and the Tor project, he quickly stumbled upon Bitcoin.

Since then his interest in the potential of cryptoassets continued to grow until he decided to host a early crypto meetup at one of his other businesses, the Chengdu Co-Working Space Berlin Haus.

When EOSIO presented solutions to major issues like scalability, transaction cost and energy efficiency he felt the need to get more involved and applied and joined the EOS Nation Ambassador program.  While volunteering as an EOS Nation Ambassador, Martin was critical to the success of Yves LaRose’s first trip to China, proving himself to be an extremely valuable to EOS Nation. He was then hired as EOS Nation’s Regional Director of Asia where he currently leads a team of 3 interns as they continue to build the EOS Nation Asian communities.
